For **Web3 domains and Web3 TLDs** purchased on Freename, the answer is usually **no**.

**All Web3 domains available for purchase on Freename are lifetime assets, except .CHZ domains**, which follow an **annual renewal** model. For lifetime Web3 assets, there are **no annual renewal fees** and **no hidden renewal costs**.

Freename also offers Web2 domains, which typically follow an annual renewal model. For Web3, the ownership model is different: for lifetime Web3 assets, you purchase once and keep ownership without yearly renewals.

### What “no hidden costs” means for Web3

- **No annual renewal fees** for lifetime Web3 domains and Web3 TLDs purchased on Freename (except .CHZ domains).
- **No surprise renewal charges** for the lifetime asset itself.

### Important note about blockchain network fees

Freename does not charge renewals for lifetime Web3 assets. However, blockchain actions can require **network fees** (gas) depending on the chain and the action being performed. These are not renewals. They are standard blockchain transaction costs.

### Optional add-ons may renew

While the Web3 domain/TLD itself can be lifetime (except .CHZ domains), **optional add-ons and services may be billed on a recurring basis**, depending on what you enable, such as **Royalties** or **Reseller Tools**.

### FAQ

**1) Are there renewal fees for Web3 domains on Freename?****
**No, not for lifetime Web3 domains. **The only exception is .CHZ domains**, which require **annual renewal**.

**2) Are Web3 .CHZ domains lifetime?****
**No. **.CHZ Web3 domains follow an annual renewal model**, meaning they must be renewed each year.

**3) Are there renewal fees for Web3 TLDs on Freename?****
**No. Web3 TLDs purchased on Freename are designed to be **lifetime assets** and are not tied to annual renewal fees.

**4) Are there any hidden costs after purchase?****
**For lifetime Web3 assets, there are **no hidden renewal fees** for the asset itself. However, some actions can involve **blockchain network fees** (gas), depending on the chain and the transaction.

**5) What are blockchain network fees (gas)?****
**They are standard transaction costs required by the blockchain to process certain actions. They are not annual renewals and they can vary depending on network conditions.

**6) Can anything be billed on a recurring basis?****
**Yes. **Optional add-ons and services** may be billed on a recurring basis depending on what you enable, such as **Royalties** or **Reseller Tools**.

**7) So what is lifetime, exactly?****
**For eligible Web3 assets, “lifetime” means **the Web3 domain or Web3 TLD itself does not require annual renewal payments** (except .CHZ domains).
